Terms of membership

Last updated Oct 1, 2026

These terms apply to everyone who trains at Max Fitness Gym.

Your membership

  • A membership is personal. It cannot be shared or transferred to someone else.
  • It runs for the plan you choose (1, 3, 6 or 12 months) from the start date on your receipt.
  • Current fees are shown on this website and at reception. The price you paid stays fixed for that membership.
  • You can pause it for travel or illness — at least 7 days at a time, up to 30 days a year, told to us before the break starts. Your end date moves by the days paused.
  • Cancellations and refunds are covered by our Refund & cancellation policy.

Age

  • The minimum age to join is 16 years.
  • Members under 18 need a parent or guardian to sign at reception before their first workout.

Health and safety

  • Tell a trainer about any medical condition, injury or pregnancy before you start. If you are unsure whether exercise is safe for you, ask your doctor first.
  • Follow the trainers' instructions, use equipment only as shown, and put weights back after use.
  • Stop and tell a trainer straight away if you feel unwell.

Conduct

  • Treat other members and staff with respect. Harassment, abuse or intimidation may lead to your membership being cancelled, and fees are not returned in that case.
  • Wear clean indoor shoes and suitable clothing, and bring a small towel.
  • No smoking, alcohol or drugs on the premises.
  • Ask before you photograph or film other members.

Lockers and belongings

  • Lockers are for use while you are training, first come first served, and you bring your own lock.
  • Empty your locker before you leave. Anything left overnight is removed and kept at reception for a week.
  • Keep valuables with you. The gym is not responsible for lost or damaged belongings, except where the loss is caused by our negligence.

Responsibility for injury

Exercise carries some risk, and you train at your own risk. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for injury caused by our negligence, or any responsibility that the law does not allow us to limit.

Attendance

Staff mark your attendance, or the reception phone marks it automatically if you have agreed to face attendance. See our Privacy policy.
